Maryville College has shared a close relationship with the Presbyterian Church since our founding as a Presbyterian seminary. While our relationship with the church would now be considered more of an affiliation, in the 1920s the Presbyterian church held an active leadership role over the school.  This can be seen throughout campus life, primarily in the rules about conduct and scheduling that were imposed on the students.
