Donating to the Maryville College Archives

The Maryville College Archives welcomes donations of any material that falls within our collection scope (see the Maryville College Archives Collections Development Policy). Due to limited staff and space, all donations are subject to review by the Maryville College Archivist. The donor MUST contact the Archivist prior to any proposed donation. Donations without a signed deed of gift will not be accepted and may be disposed of at the discretion of the Maryville College Archives.

In accordance with federal law, Maryville College will not provide an appraisal of the value of the donated items. If the donor wishes to use the gift(s) for a tax-deductible contribution, the Archives advises the donor to consult a tax professional.

Donation Process

  1. The donor will prepare a listing of material for donation and contact the Maryville College Archivist: amy.lundell@maryvillecollege.edu or 865-981-8352.

  2. If the Maryville College Archives is interested in your proposed donation, the donor will make an appointment with the Archivist to bring the donation to the Archives for review. Exceptions due to location and/or situation may be considered on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Maryville College Archivist.

  3. If the donation is accepted, all donors must complete a deed of gift form for the material being donated. Upon completion of the deed of gift, the donor will receive a signed copy for the donor’s files.

Transfering Records from College Department/Division/Office

If you are a member of the faculty, staff, or administration of Maryville College and need to transfer your official records to the Archives, please contact the Archivist directly for more information.
