Insight Into the Past Exhibit

Conclusion

When students came to Maryville College, they were not just getting an education, they were getting a community. Many students at this time met their spouses as well as their life-long friends during their time at the college. The closed community at the school provided a tight-knit micro-society for students to mature from teenagers into adulthood together. While there are, of course, many benefits to the freedoms allowed to today’s MC students, the bond that our alumni of one hundred years ago shared with one another was undeniably made special by their on-campus lives.
