May Day Exhibit

Many clubs and departments would participate including the Vesper Choir, Music Department, and Women’s Physical Education Department. They would dance, play instruments, and act. 

Here you can see the traditional may pole dance. This activity was only performed by women.

With the love the local community had for Maryville College, thousands would show up and watch the May Day festivities. Some would even have their children participate in the play and court. Sometimes those children would end up attending Maryville College and participating in the play as a student!
