Credo Instruct - Information Literacy is a set of online videos, tutorials, and quizzes introducing information literacy concepts and skills needed for each step of the research process. The Lamar Memorial Library has subscribed to the Information Literacy content package, and it is ready for you and students to use, on campus or off.
The learning modules can be shared with students via links in your syllabus, through a custom page on the Library's web site, or by embedding the modules in your Tartan course.
The library will use the CREDO Information Literacy modules listed below to introduce FYS students to finding information and evaluating information. Students complete the modules independently, outside of class, on whatever assignment schedule you set for your FYS section.
Embedding the modules into your FYS course on Tartan is easy! Embedding the LTI links directly in your FYS Tartan course means you can independently assign due dates for the modules, and also integrate completion and assessment information directly into the gradebook for your section.
Once students have completed the modules independently, they will participate in a small group discussion of the content with a librarian. Librarians will host discussion sessions online via zoom. Students self-register for any discussion session that is convenient for them.
Note that in this new plan, there are no FYS class periods set aside for direct library instruction. If you would like a librarian to lead discussion of the learning modules in person or via zoom with your FYS section, please contact us to arrange the date you would like us to come to your class.
Use the files below to help you integrate the CREDO Instruct -- Information Literacy modules into your FYS course. You can always contact a librarian for assistance as well!
